What is Nikon's equivalent of Canon "L" lenses?

As I only have digital cam (sold my firm) For the digital equivalent, I'll go for 12-24, 17-55, and 70-200 for the trinity covering the equivalent range of the original. I don't agree that 18-200 is good enough or else we should have ony one lens to talk about.

    Chinatown elderly

Inyteresting pic. The old man seems troubled and is thinking hard. The bright spot on the spec is disturbing to viewer, would be better is the reflection actually is recognisable to tell extra detail of the story; or else cutting the reflection to see the eye will be better.

Which will you choose, D200 or D2H?

I vote for D2H. though D200 is new design, but it is still a grade behind the truly pro body. The feel and the handling is so natural that I'm tempted to get a 2nd body so that I can shoot forever and never need to worry about any other model (new or old). Right now D2H is superb for me in...

    Kenko PRO 2X w 70-200vr

I'm using this combo, to me the image tend to be soft (edge not as sharp compared to w/o) and less saturated. The focusing speed is very obviously slowed down (even with CAM2000 & SWM). IQ ia quite OK under bright sun or using for macro shots with flash. If IQ is important to you, strongly...

    Teleconverter image quality

Quality is definitely degraded. A good quality converter will definitely reduce the problem. For compact add on, do take note of the distortion towards the edge of the image. For Dslr, x1.4 tele gives very acceptable quality that you might not see much diff from without. higher...

D100 - Is there a eyecup for it?

Yes, I did the same thing also, gaffer around the square adaptor to the camera (the square adapter actually break easily under stress and caused the dropping). The dropping incidence is greatly reduced after graffer, but tearing of the rubber can still occur occassionally. The design for D2H...

D100 - Is there a eyecup for it?

I donlt don't recommend it. The rubber tear easily and the whole assembly can drop off if unknowingly knock against your body when the cam is hanging on your shoulder. I torn at least 3 rubber cups and dropped one complete assembly. And them are all original Nikon parts

    Which macro lens?

    200m f/4 would be ideal but $$$$

    Which macro lens?

I vote also for the 180mm. the working distance is very useful in not disturbing the subjects and easier to use flash

    Close-up lens

Teleconverter is also a good alternative as it can focus from near to infinity. I don't like the restriction that I can only focus near and something interesting nearby is happening and I can only watch.

    talent or hard work?

I think hard work is definitely required for a start, and talents is required for creativities and breakthru; then hardwork come again for consistently producing the excellent work.

    SB 800 question

capture more ambient light at 1/30 but more prone to handshake and hence be prepared for some unacceptable shot (I tend to forget the slower speed, resulting snap and move too fast) and color cast under artificial lighting (unless you put on the correct gel filter provided with the flash)

    My first macro

try making the camera sensor plan parallel to the flower's plane. ie. in this case shoot from the top so that most object is about the same perpendicular distance from the sensor and better chance of getting more in sharp focus; although you may still not able to get some part in focus because...
