Just tried out my friend's D40 yesterday. Feels really good and takes great pics. Got used to changing the settings almost immediately. I was thinking of upgrading from D50 to D80 or D200 but this little camera is keeping me undecided.

I sold off my 18-55 and 55-200 and got the VR 18-200. I personally found the 18-200 VR lens to be much better and sharper. Also could take better low light shots with the VR. If you can afford it, I would seriously recommend the 18-200 VR despite it being more expensive. If you can't afford it...
