Agree.... With technology getting so much more complicated/complex, I reckon nothing is bug-free... the thermal noise is merely a small issue and a quick fix is all it needs to have it resolved.... going to send in mine soon enough though I have not noticed it albeit is on the affected batch...

Presume you also like me - love it deep deep :-) Anyhow, the thermal noise is not exclusive to D810....Seems like D800/e also have this issue... Just enjoy your toy bro... It's an amazing camera and I think I wld stick to it for a long while....now kena bitten by lenses bugs :-)

The thermal noise issue IMHO is merely a small issue that as pointed out by many in other forums, is solved by a quick firmware upgrade... I'm enjoying mine.... The lure is too strong for me....
