Thanks guys. hmm, normally how far do you guys stand when you take pictures of, for e.g. a flying bee or catepilla? 60cm away from the subject?

what kind of flash do you use to light up your subjects? I only have the sb900. would it be better to set teh flash on the d700 as commander trigger and put the sb900 somewhere else pointing the subject?

does anyone have experiences with the Nikon 200mm f4 Macro or 105mm vr Macro? Would like to take pictures of food, flowers, and tiny objects. Is the working distance of the 105mm adequate for enough light to light up the subject? I'm using a D700.
