How to make an Orb of Life

My first two attempts.... I'd like the make the guy walk in 1 direction, but there's an awful lot of asymmetry to fix. ampelmann orb by huipiiing, on Flickr ampelfrau orb by huipiiing, on Flickr Thanks Redsun :)

---Which Audio Format Do You Use For Your Portable Music Player?

I rip VBR mp3s using iTunes set to highest quality. They sound really good, almost like the CD itself except for a slight bass boost (probably due to the mp3 format itself). I don't like lossless formats because they suck up more battery from my iPod. And really with the iPod, you can hardly...

It's tough being a Singaporean overseas sometimes

I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Prima Taste is actually pretty popular with the locals! It's new and the decor is clean and modern. No tacky SQ-girl kebaya. Singaporean food is finally getting the recognition it deserves! I also remember reading a short write up about "Singapore Street Food"...

    Which Metering?

Why not try all 3 in the same shot and see which one gives you your ideal colour reproduction?

It's tough being a Singaporean overseas sometimes

YES! I get that a lot from my non-Singaporean friends after a phone call too! And when I say it's English they don't believe me... I mean, seriously, it's almost as if they only acknowledge their own accent as the only valid form of English. But really, Singlish is 3 times faster than what a...

It's tough being a Singaporean overseas sometimes

I can, but it's still got traces of that weird hybrid accent, eg. emphasis on "R"s in words like "pork" and "curve" when you really don't need to.

It's tough being a Singaporean overseas sometimes

Just curious, do any of you bother to "code switch" at all or do you just speak in our glorious Singaporean accent? I do put on an accent, just because it helps other people understand my speech better. As a result, I think I've developed a pretentious hybrid accent when I speak to my...

It's tough being a Singaporean overseas sometimes

It seems like the participants of this thread are predominantly Chinese...yes? I'm a Singaporean studying in Canada... And last term a bunch of Singaporean exchange students came by, and during a residence welcome BBQ session they kept taking more servings of the food and "encouraged" other...

    Buying a standard zoom lens

I generally don't like the EF-S mount since you can't use them on the older film SLRs. Don't think you can use them on the 5D either. If you intend to upgrade to a 5D in future your EF-S lens will be useless. Otherwise which lens you get depends on what telephoto range you want.

    Prime Lenses

I guess if you buy the 50mm f1.8 now you might want to upgrade to a 50mm f1.4 later... so might as well get the f1.4 now.

Share your photos with the Canon camera you're using for technical discussion

Some recent photos. Took these on my friend's 40D with a Sigma 17-200mm. Can't say I like that lens a lot, it's got autofocus problems. Not to mention it's heavy too. Anyway, time for some adorable bunnies. (These images look a little iffy... cuz facebook did something to them. Hmm.)

    Buying a DSLR: Assistance Needed

You know, you could also rent a camera + macro lens for a day or two to try them out. It doesn't cost that much and you can get plenty of alone time with the camera and your watches. There are some links in CS where u can find camera rentals. Good luck with your camera search, hope you'll be...

Need Recommendation - NON-DSLR for Travelling

Canon A640 - because it's got the swivel LCD! It's reallllly useful for composing from extreme angles, and also to take self-shots. :) That swivel LCD is one of the main reasons why I don't want to buy a DSLR. And if you really need to shoot RAW on a Canon PnS that does not support RAW out of...

    Girl in foetus position

My first impression (especially from the 2nd treatment) is that the girl is dead and abandoned... Something like that. The expression on the subject's face is quite blank and doesn't quite convey vulnerability... I do like the colours in the first photo better though. I would probably...

    External hard disk

Do you already own an iPod? If you do you can buy the iPod camera connector... The only problem is that you cannot view RAW images from the iPod, but you should still be able to download them into the iPod.
