Dear all, I am going to Italy in a few days time. I like to get some input from forumers regarding the use of mobile wifi. Besides the local telco plans and the Citibank promo, are there any cheaper plans over in Italy that you can recommend? I saw some cheap ones online but afraid there are...

    Oil in Hoya CPL filter

Hi, My guess is that the oil blob will not disappear as the coating is already uneven. I guess the coating is optimal for the CPL filter in the first place, so if it started to dry, the CPL filter will have spoilt. You can try to press it even on the glass surface but once you release the...

    Oil in Hoya CPL filter

Hi, Just a thought. In a CPL filter, one should not be able to see any liquid or oil in the in between the 2 glasses cos its costed evenly. If you are able to see blobs of oil, then the oil will have start to dry, hence unable to coat the entire 58 mm glass pieces. One possible reason may be...

Sillica gel; thirsty hippo; dry boxes; dehumidifier lamp in a cupboard which one?

Hi eosdigital, There is no need to go as low as possible. Because if its too low, the oiled parts in the camera and lens will dry up and if there are leather and rubbery parts, it will harden due to lack of moisture and crack. You only need to go very low if your stuff needs critical RH...

    D60

Hi, congrats on getting a new camera... I am no expert here but if you are shooting often, then there is no need for a dry cabinet. At least in the short term. But as you expand your camera gear, there will be some things you will not use often, so ideally a dry box or cabinet will be nice to...

Sillica gel; thirsty hippo; dry boxes; dehumidifier lamp in a cupboard which one?

Hi all, My personal pref and opinion is a dry cabinet. I think silica gel in a drybox is good but if storing items too long w/o opening the box may be detrimental to the leather and oiled parts as the former will harden and crack and oiled parts will dry (eg. lens). Normal silica gel in the...

    nikon d60

Hi, I have a D60 too. I normally store with lens on sans battery, memory card and strap. Normally leather parts or moisture absorbent material are left out of the dry box/cabinet. Or else it will take longer than usual time to dry out the moisture inside to desired RH levels. And usually, they...

    Hermes129 Night HDR imagery

Hi all, I went to the Southern Ridges for my night shoot. Any comments and critique are welcomed. I have a question though. I noticed that processing night HDR using photomatix gives a high level of digital noise in the background. Not sure if any members here able to give some tips on the...

HDR on the Merlion at night

Hi, With photoshop, save the TIFF file as a JPG file will do. Adobe Bridge should be able to see TIFF. My normal Windows viewer can see TIFF. You just need to associate the TIFF format to Windows viewer instead of Infranview. Hope this helps! Cheers,
