If you happen to stay around Toa Payoh, there's a regular photo shop that sells 120mm slide and BW film. Not sure whether it's the best deal or not but no one really seems to buy it so it's perpetually on sale.

Adding on to what the others have said, shooting in bright (sun)light really helps.
