you can try ebay for canon A-1 body they are pretty cheap(around 100) and those are professional grade camera of that era

canon ae-1 is a nice camera but why limited yourself to only one canon?... there others like a1/f1 or even the T series... but I think is okay to pay more for a really good condition one... no point getting a really dusty and dirty viewfinder it just spoil the whole experience and worry it will...

brighter screen doesn't mean will make it easier to focus but it will make the experience of using the camera more enjoyable, prism viewer is a better choice if you want to better focusing
