Do you mean that the lens cannot focus? Or that the back part of the insect is blur?
If the back in blur, it could be that your aperture is too wide.
If the lens cannot focus, it could be due to the minimum focussing distance.
I agree that lack of contrast is not the problem.
I wanted to take one from across the street, but trees were blocking and my prosumer doesn't allow me to go wider as i was already squatting down.
I get what you mean about the crop though.
This is a picture of "The New 7th Story Hotel" I converted it to black and white and used PS to "simulate" a red filter to darken the sky. But i feel that there is something lacking in composition. Any tips or comments?
