Thanks for all the comments. I am currently using the 400D w/ the kit lens. I am re-starting this hobby after more than ten year in hiberation due to high film processing cost.

Both lenes cover most of the shootinf situations. The EFS costs at least 50% more than the EF for the 3 stops IS? I think the different must be more than just IS. Any coment on the optics and build quality?:)

HI There, Would anyone comment on the optical as well as the IS performance foe these two lenses? I am choosing one of these to be used as a standard zoom lens.:)

Just paid $450 for the 430EX at AP-SLS. MS color quoted $460, CP-Marina quoted $470. All with GST.
