Canon or Nikon DSLR which is better

Sold my 300D for a D70. If I were to choose betwen a D70 and a 10D, I would pick the 10D. If I can wait few more months, I'll pick the Fuji S3, vs the 10D. (My choices were 75% F-mount and 25% Canon-mount). Best of luck in your choice. charles

    Self-Timer mode question

    1. Many thanks for the leads. Haven't had the time to take a closer look, but seems that it was what I meant. 2. Believe it or not, we are about 300 worldwide, that started our architectural apprentiship in a tiny school in Saigon (now Ho chi minh city); but we do have two websites! (one in...

    Self-Timer mode question

    1. NEF. I should have used the word RAW, it would have been less confusing. Anyway, NEF= RAW. NEF= Nikon Electronic Image Format. (discussed in the guide book, pages 41 to 45). 2. I do agree with you that it will be hard to see that many a people in a single picture. At the last count...

    Self-Timer mode question

Thanks guys. You're being very helpfull. So, I should set the camera to M mode and NEF, right? Last question: at what speed should I run to my location? :bsmilie: (58 years old legs; but gollfer's legs though!).

    Self-Timer mode question

Question: I want to include myself in the picture of our school reunion, of about 300 people. It will be at about 6PM, in Houston, TX, next week (plenty of light). What will be the optimum set-up? (D70 + SB-800 + 12-24 1:4G ED DX, with no ML-L3 :( ) Many thanks, Charles

    Closed-eyes problem.

AF assist lamp seems not to be the problem. Something with iTTL and the flip-up mirror... (Pls read thread on nikonians.org). But yes, portrait mode makes sense. I'll give it a try. It's very embarrassing when such a great number of persons you have on your pix have their eyes closed.

    Closed-eyes problem.

Many thanks for the replies. It is presently a hot topic on Nikonians site; and seems that Nikon is aware of the problem but doesn't have an answer yet to the problem. The original poster of the thread says that Nikon told him to return his D70 because it's deffective.

    Closed-eyes problem.

A significant number of people I took picture during night time with the built-in flash have their eyes closed. ;( Red-eye reduction is off, camera set to auto. Anybody know the cause? charles

How to attach the fifth battery cover of the SB800

Hi Marlin, I had the same concern; but told myself: "what the heck if it breaks"... Hold it as low as possible, pull back, giving more pressure on one side. It should pops out.

    SB800 off-camera flash usage

Hi Dennis, How to go to Custum menu 19? My D70 goes only to # 09. Many thanks.

    SB800 off-camera flash usage

Thank you ESPN and Dennis. I really want to join you guys whenever you meet; but unfortunately I presently live on the other side of the globe. :( I know that the D70 has to be the master; and the SB 800 the slave. But guys, you're explaining the thing to a 57 years old, old guy. Thank...

Hi ESPN, I have read both manuals but couldn't figure out yet how to setup the D70 built-in flash to trigger the SB-800. Thank you to explain. Cheers, charles
