I also got this lens a month ago as my 2nd lens after the 18-55mm IS kit lens.
I must say that the 50mm focal length needs alot of getting used to as I find myself having to stay pretty far back for most shots.
I prefer to shoot in Av most of the time where controlling the DoF is more important than shutter speed.
However at night where lighting is poor, I switch to Tv and pump up my ISO. This is to ensure my shutter speed remains at 1/focal length to ensure sharp pictures. I obviously cant do that...
