yeah go w e tamron. u cannot go wrong w that. if ur camera comes w e kit lens, sell it off to fund ur tamron lens. good luck n i'm sure u will love this lens just like many others, including me, who own this lens :)

dunno wats e diff between w/ or w/o motor. but i own e motor version. used it on my S5 for quite a number of event shoots like ge-tai and wedding dinner. focusing is spot-on and PQ is sharp! :thumbsup: highligh recommended. i sacrifice the focual range for wideness... :what:

yes its true. got a bit of sound. unless u r doing detective works or shooting in ultra-quiet environment, i dun think u can ever find any lens that does not make any sound at all. if so, perhaps a compact camera may suit u better? as all the others have mentioned, the motor sound from this...

think e price must have dropped quite a fair bit :( got my nikon mount @ Sep08 from John @ 680 for 3yrs warranty. go get it if its closer to 600. bet u'll love this lens :)
