could it be your SD card is corrupted? when viewing photos on the camera does it show partially or just a black screen, or an error message? you might want to insert it into a card reader and run "check disk" on it. backup your card before you do this as you might lose your current files.

this only happens with CRTs because that's the way the image is updated on the screen. you can correct that by using a slower shutter speed, say 1/20s or slower, and that will capture the entire screen without those black bars.

USB to PS/2 converters? I thought those only worked for USB mice? I doubt they'll work with any USB devices as all the drivers are for USB only. You should consider getting the PCMCIA USB card.
