We had the same dilemma, so I decided to swap the 24-70 to 24-105 (less weight around 350g). You will still get extra money from the deal since 24-70 is more expensive than 24-105, then you use it for 55-250 purchase. Hope this help.... :)

Here's a guy shooting macro just using 18-55 kit and 55-250 lenses with reynox 250. Here's the samples. 18-55 kit lens with reynox 250 55-250 lens with reynox 250 I guess we can use any lenses with the help of additional device to improve the magnification, but of course no one can...

I had the same dilemma with the TS before, weight issue. I don't have much lens so 24-70 was my walk around lens and it was a burden to carry almost 1KG just for lens. I decided to swap 24-70 to 24-105 to carry less around 300g weight... :)

Majority of my macro shooter friends are using Tamron 180mm, perhaps would you like to consider too.... :)
