Weather sealing body will work well with weather sealing lenses only. Be prepare to overhaul your lens collection as well.

You might want to wait for the Tammy 17-50 VC. Fast lens with VR. You may not even need to buy the 35mm. If you take lotsa low light shots, this may be a better choice than the 16-85. IMO, it may just be worth waiting a little more before deciding :)

Mount the lens on the tripod first, then attach your camera. That should an efficient way to do it. And no need to worry about anything snapping, the metal mount on both your lens and camera is built to last.
