Hey guys, I've just bought the 11-16mm v2 today.
I've done some testing and it seems that my copy has a front-focus by about 2 inches.
My D5300 can't do focus micro-adjustment unlike D7100 etc, so is the 2cm front-focusing issue really a big deal since I'll be using it for landscape...
Any tips when going to the service center?
I saw from another thread that
- must call them up first and make appointment
- bring my camera along
- bring the lens cap
- bring warranty card
Any other things that I should know?
I did some more testing and this time my DSLR is mounted on a tripod aiming at the chart. All at f1.8
35mm - Sharp
28mm - Somewhat soft
24mm - Sharp
20mm - Blurry due to backfocusing
18mm - Really blurry due to backfocusing
I've just bought this lens but I think I have backfocusing issue at 18-20mm.
I took some sample test shots and my focus is aimed at the spot where the ruler touches the iPhone box.
35mm - Focus seems accurate
28mm - Seems accurate
24mm - Still accurate
20mm - Backfocus; Focus seems to...
If I buy it now, would the lens come with the latest firmware? Cuz my camera body is d5300 and it would suck if I have to spend another 80 bucks just to buy the USB dock. Does sigma charge you for updating the firmware? How long does it take to send the lens for firmware update/calibration?

Yeah, this pretty much. Reason why I bought a Nikon when I started photography is because my friends all use that particular brand.
We went on photography trips and exchanged lens, which was kind of neat.

Only buy Canon models if you're sure your friends wouldn't mind sharing their lens...
