For an amateur hobbyist who has been shooting on the Sigma SD14 for years, I cannot justify that price and see no upgrade path to my dying old-horse SD14. My only hope is that my Sigma SA-mount lenses will worth at least some money when I am forced to switch systems after my SD14 dies.

I doubt there is such an adapter as Sigma SA lenses are rather rare. There is a Nikon-F to Sigma SA adapter by http://www.sigmacumlaude.com/. Perhaps they could fashion one for the opposite function. Alternatively you can sell this 400mm SA lens to Sigma SD users and use that money to help...

How is the metering faulty? Sometimes it is just ridiculously unreliable. My SD14 meter can give me a reading of about 5-stops off under certain conditions.
