i don't think its going to be priced 1K+ more than a 20D... doesn't make sense to me. The recommended price looks like it may be really attractive! spot metering can be very very useful actually... and it brings the 30D alot closer to a 1-series camera.

The street price of a 20D with kit lens on www.bhphoto.com has now dropped to US$1280. This is similar enough to the street price in Singapore now, about S$2400. The recommended retail price of the 30D kit on the website is US$1399, so its probably going to be only $200-$300 more than a 20D...
