    Wanted: Photobooth Assistants, Fri 31 Jan, 5 – 10pm

I need a couple of assistants to help with a photobooth (setup and running) this Fri (31 Jan) evening, 5 – 10 pm. Good if you have basic camera knowledge (adjust camera settings) and preferably some experience with Lightroom. It will be pretty easy, and I will run through it with you...

    Camera for sunrise video

    1. Either the Sony or Canon is great (as are all the major brands). Did your research include getting a hands-on feel of your 2 choices? You might find you prefer the handling and menus of one over the other. 2. Unless you have an urgent, specific need, just start with the kit zoom -- this...

Where to buy cheap Canon battery?

Just a caveat on 3rd party batteries -- not all function properly. I'm Olympus-based, and some third party batteries (BLN-1) I bought would work in the camera, but not charge in my Olympus chargers. When I was on Canon, I had no issues. But that was 5 years ago. I think the newer, 'smarter'...

    Convert traditional cassette to digital

Used to use AVD Technologies at Sim Lim Square for small quantity work -- it's been a while but I think they're still there. Better call and check though (also if they still provide the service)

Please recommend a bag for holidays

Haha, another one of those loaded questions, with everyone having their own preferences. If you're just shooting casual (and if you're travelling with family, it will probably be) there are loads of choices. I'd use my old Lowepro Passport Sling -- a small m43 body, 2 small lenses, and some...

Dont bother going F1 for photography

This year was my first F1 since 2010, and yeah, access is much lower now. But I don't go there to shoot much. I did shoot some of the acts (Sugarhill Gang!) and the people. If you want to shoot motorsports (heck, any sports) go for the minor leagues -- you are more welcome and can get closer...

How to bring photography skills to the next level?

None of us is as good as we would like to be :) But my 2 cents: figure out what you really like to shoot, and be very specific (not just with the technical stuff). If you like to do portraits, narrow it down further. Do you like those 'deep' character portraits eg. those "old Nepalese man...

    Panasonic service

I'm a m-43 user -- primarily Olympus, but have a GX85. I use my E-M1 mk 1 for the occasional paid shoot (mostly events) and want to get a newer body. Right now it's between a E-M1 Mk II and G9. Just wanted to get user feedback on Panasonic's service. I have been reasonably satisfied with Oly's...

    Kindly Advice: Newbie Photographer

As a ex-Canon DSLR user who waited and waited for years for their mirrorless 'system' before giving up and going micro-43, I wouldn't get Canon mirrorless now. Not until they show they're committed. If you want mirrorless, and are looking at growing with the system, get one of the established...

How to upgrade from Olympus kit lens 12-140mm

Your problem is GAS. Gear Acquisition Syndrome. We all have it from time to time *haha*. Look, your've said you cannot see the improved sharpness from the 40-150/2.8 Pro lens -- you can't get much sharper in the m43 world. It's NOT your lens. About 95% of the time when people have problems with...

    Advice on Street Photography

Start simple. Go where people there are lots of people and lots of photos being taken - the pasar malam at Geylang Serai for example? (I haven't gone yet, and don't if it's good) Don't go all hardcore and start with Geylang streetwalkers and loan sharks. Build from there.| Everyone has their...

Focus Peaking while shooting video - Olympus E-M1 Mk 1

Focus peaking doesn't work while shooting video on the E-M1 Mark 1, as far as I can tell. Or am I missing something? Was at the Olympus service centre last Sat, and tried out the feature on some of the newer bodies -- EM1 Mk2, EM10 Mk 3 and EM5 Mk 2 all can do it. Since I was there, I had my...

Need recommendation for a camera bag for biking (cycle)

Agree wholeheartedly! I used to commute with Ortlieb panniers on rear rack. Once loaded a 10kg bag of cat litter in each rear pannier and cycled back home. Would have been hell any other way! Handlebar bags are ok if the load isn't too heavy.
