    In Bloom

Hi All I shot this in a resort which had a large-ish pond. Had to use a 200mm, luckily had a monopod with me and I think the sharpness is acceptable. I composed this to include the lotus and the buds in it's different stages. Non-essential elements were darkened so as to be excluded...

Beware of this shop....at harbour front

Let me take this a step further then: Those so-called "reputable shops" that charge a different price for tourists.. What do we call them? (a) Reputable - because they of the 'good' prices charged to us, locals? (b) Unethical - because of the blatant discrimination (or because you're a...

microfiber cloths doing more harm than good

Use a good quality microfiber(MF) cloth. Problem is, there's so many that claim to be genuine MF cloth.. To be safe, use 3M branded ones. Personally, I'm using a 3M Detailing cloth cos I'd bought a few pieces when it was on sale at Autobacs. Intended to use on my car (I'm a detailing nut..)...

My humble attempt at fake minatures thru the years..

Hi TS I think YSLee is correct in his statement. I believe Perspective is crucial when you're trying to mimic a miniature effect. A high viewpoint seems to work best as that is how a person would peer into a miniature world (Del_CtrlnoAlt's photo being a good example). Then again, I could...

I want to be a firefighter too..

Agreed. Isn't it time we let this thread die a natural death? From all the C&C gathered and the lessons learnt, I think the TS should already be shooting and posting other photos.

    Fuji F200EXR - A piece of ****

Is there a photo in the posting that we're supposed to see?? Regardless, you're comparing a shot taken at ISO 400 against 1600? Is there something we're missing here?

    Lens resolution

Hi All Im no lens techie, so I cant back up my opinions with MTF numbers etc.. But logically speaking, one would assume that a FF sensor, with its larger surface area and hence, larger light-grabbing pixel would be SHARPER because it does not have to be amplified so much in order to obtain...

    35 degrees Saturday

Actually, I think the photo works WITH the ball rather than WITHOUT. Allow me to explain: At first glance, the ball is barely noticeable right? Our eyes are automatically drawn to the child. But the placement of the child in the photo is unbalanced, causing our eyes (and brain) to...

    Mom says "Stop"

Hi I agree that the merging of your subject's silhouette with the background has weakened the shot somewhat. Also, as I believe this was a 'candid' shot, short of getting down low infront of her, I dont think moving or changing perspective will help separate the background.

    Think Tank Modular Set

Dont think a Speed Changer was designed to fit a DSLR at all... Its meant to hold lenses/flash or misc items. The gent at TK told me the only pack that can fit an SLR and hooked up to the belt system would be the Digital Holster. Else, look into the Speed Freak/ Speed Demon/ Speed Racer.

    Review: Think Tank Speed Racer

Yup, supposedly lifetime warranty to original owner. But looking at their materials... I really dont think its gonna give way in MY lifetime.. hahaha Mostly, I use the grip when Im shooting events or portraits, where my Crumpler 7mil is used. For streets or nature treks I go gripless so its...
