IBIS and OIS is good to have but if they are not there, then the photographer has to work around it by going back to first principle.
That is using correct settings, develop good holding and breathing technique and shutter release technique.
Those of us who served NS and had training on...
My gut feeling is that the price will be more in the area of the 12mm f2, as I was told it is of metal construction and the glass is just beautiful to look at.
I was there and I only use the 45mm.
I was also at the TDA competition in January and I used the 40-150mm and mainly a manual focus OM 50mm f1.8
I will miss the next competition, Stars of Tomorrow, on 8 Apr as my son will not be competing due to uni exams.
Ideally, I would like to use the 45mm...
I did not handle the unit. It's physical size is about that of the PL25 and looks like fully metal.
I expect it's weight to be about the same or slightly heavier.
The front lens element is relatively big and looks very business-like.
Waiting for this lens to be released as I would like to use it to shoot dancesports.
Hope that the price is affordable, as I am also eyeing the Voigtlander 75mm f1.8 (manual focus).
I have seen the pre-production unit and it's front element is relatively big. Looks beautiful!
I have been...
It is a weather resistant lens and should match the OMD-EM5 well as the camera has been reported to be good at high ISO settings.
A good photographer will be able to exploit his equipment by understanding and optimizing their settings.
When a market is big and the product range is large, the strategist doing the pricing will have greater flexibility in pricing.
The strategy is by using a method call 'costs transfer'.
zan82 might know what I am talking about although he has not brought this up.
Weaver46,
As you already have the 14mm f2.5, I suggest that you go for the 45mm f1.8.
You will learn a different way of looking at things and framing a shot. need some getting use to.
Later you can consider a PL25mm f1.4
I mainly use the following lenses:
14mm f2.5 for family...
When I said specific needs, I mean using in outdoors and wet weather, namely sports photography where you need a fast lens.
Bear in mind that the Zuiko 35-100 f2 has a weight of about 1.8kg. Normally for professional use. I watched professional photographers covering Formula One car races...
I suggest that you assess your need for the Zuiko 35-100mm again as it is not cheap to buy.
The money you are willing to put down for this lenses is sufficient for you to buy a few pieces of native m43 primes, i.e, the trinity of 12mm, 25mm and 45mm. Then wait for the soon to be released 75mm...
Hi Weaver46,
Something here for you to digest.

The Oly 45mm f1.8 is a superb lens. Very sharp on the subject and also nice bokeh. You need to get used to it as it is effectively a short tele lens and you must have sufficient distance between...
Although there are negative comments about the EM-5's 12-50mm kit lens with regards to its f6.3 aperture, my take is that it should complement the EM-5 well as the camera can handle higher ISO., i.e, the lens is designed for the camera's capabilities.
As the EM-5 is weather and dust sealed, this...
At this point in time, there isn't any m43 native zoom lens that is faster than f3.5
If you really need AF, then the closest I can think of is using the 4/3 lenses with MMF1/MMF2 adaptor using the Zuiko 90-250mm f2.8 or Zuiko 35-100mm f2.0.
Both of them have constant aperture and are costly to...
