I am using a D80 and besides the 18-135 kit, the only other lens I have is the 50 1.8. For me, it's a no brainer to buy the 50 1.8 because it's cheap and light and serves my photographic purpose although at times, I admit it's rather restrictive but I use it to shoot portraits of our daughter...

No, I checked. When I half press the shutter, the 18-135 auto-focuses but when I use the remote, it only releases the shutter.

Hi all. I realised that when I use the ML-L3 wireless remote on the D80, it auto focuses and takes the shot when I have the Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D lens on but not with the Nikkor AF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED DX kit lens. Just want to check if other D80 users experience the same. Cheers!

Ace! Great info. I always have auto iso on. It didn't work with my D40 n doesn't seem to work with my D80. And you've solved this mystery for me but i have yet to try it out.
