    I got a D40X instead of D40, since the price difference is marginal and in case if I need higher MP (i.e 8MP or 10MP, A4 print or bigger). I am happy with the the D40X with Sigma 18-200mm OS HSM lens.

    If you are using SD or SDHC should be of no issue since most notebooks have the SD card slot. You may transfer files from notebook to external hard disk or USB device etc. What portable storage drives are you referring to?
