What is the different between F2.8-4.0 and F3.5-5.6?

I'm crazy at Tele but i haven't take wildlife photo or sports yet :what:. mostly i shoot landscape, indoor and portrait.

Yap. all Tamaron lens (18-200/250) i checked are under 500. I used Vivitar (70-210/2.8-4.0) when i take Portrait and tele pic.
