I didn't realize it until u said so. The cap opening is not "locked" when it is closed. It seems to be held in place by spring mechanism. If your camera bag is compact, then it is possible that the half the lens cap will be open when u slide it in.

Yes, my apologies. I had to remove the battery to reset too. On off switch no use. Can u elaborate step by step how the camera hangs? I see if I can duplicate it again on mine. If can duplicate then it may be sth more than a defective set.

This happened to me once also. Using pancake lens. The camera hang. Lens cannot retract. Used on off switch to reset. But using 25 and 12-40 so far so good....

You can take a look at my reply on the E-M10 thread. Since the DOF equation is non linear and also depends on the sensor's circle of confusion, there is no easy rule of thumb to convert by adjusting focal length and aperture only. Easiest way is to use a DOF calculate or app to compare.
