hi, I'm using Sirui T1204 which is very compact - small enough to fit in carry on luggage.
Price wise, burnt a hole in my pocket but poor tripods are worthless 2nd hand so instead of collecting tripods with each upgrade I just got a good one to last.
I did a quick test at MS quite some time ago and ended up buying the 7-14.
Reason was in comparing the shots taken with the GF1, I found the 7-14 "easy" to snap a good clear sharp photo. Also I had read quite a few reviews before then and most gave the 7-14 a higher IQ rating.

1. Tripod - If shooting landscape, by right most of time we should have enough time to set up a tripod & choose a good angle.
