tokina build was much better than tamron, its looks like a pro lens tokina 1mm wider but not longer 5mm than tamron but i think its all about the price, tokina price almost twice of tamron 17-50 non-built in motor price both are good alternative lens for those cant get nikon 17-55 f2.8 but...
