Subject about 50cm away, hand held shooting
Focus point at center only, using evaluative metering, light source sun (same brightness to me cause clear sky)
Tokina at 16mm , Canon at 18mm

Do you experience photo taken with this lens is a bit under exposed?
1. Using kit lens 18-135mm at aperture priority,
Indoor meter reading F8 0.8 ISO 100.

Yes, you should get a ultra wide angle lens as mention by silentseth.
I would suggest the Tokina 11-16 F2.8. Everyone should have at least one fast lens.

If you are going for travel I suggest you go for the kit 2 18-135mm (455g) or 18-200mm (595g) with this lens you will have wide to zoom in one lens. It will also keep dust out by not changing lens.
As someone commented that 600D (entry) vs 60D (semi pro). It all depend on what you need and...
