    Nikon AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED N lens - Official Thread

Apart from light gathering ability, what is the real life difference between the 20/2.8 and 20/1.8? I have the older 20/2.8 too.

    Nikon bashing is in!

OIC. Thought that was old news and Nikon is actively rectifying the issue.

What not-so-wise decisions did Nikon make?

    Eye-Fi in Nikon

We reverted to the old tried and tested method of using an assistant. The eye-fi card wasn't mine, the camera was new to me and there wasn't enough time to work out the best way to do it at the time. It was going to be an experiment with the original plan being used should things go pear shape.

The stage lighting might change causing different colour temps. So it was important to be able to adjust the white balance during PP.

    Eye-Fi in Nikon

That's what we have been doing in the past. Just thought that we should embrace and explore new technology. In the past, I was only using CF cards (D700) but with the D610, we can now use the Eye-fi cards and so experimented with it.

    Eye-Fi in Nikon

Yes, definitely. I just needed to shoot in RAW for the "just in case" aspect of shooting an important live event.

    Eye-Fi in Nikon

Gabriel, Those eye-fi transfer speeds over wireless are painfully slow. I tried it with the D610 on RAW files. we gave up as the speed was unworkable for live transfer to a PC for editing during a live event. We needed edited photos ready for certificates by the end of the event. I do however...

    15K Budget Suggestion/Advice Please!

Yep, love my D610. Finally bought a Nikon grip after getting an unreliable Vello BG-N10 grip from B&H. Unfortunately it wasn't worthwhile returning it to the US. I feel that the D610 is easier to handhold with the grip on. Spend the money saved on lenses.

Add 85/1.8G to the list too. Excellent value for money. Or the 1.4G if you have money to burn.

    D610 User Thread

There is a function button you can assign on the D610 that will allow you to switch between FX and DX quickly. If you're happy with the 10-24, then keep it. I use DX mode sometimes to get extra reach or crop (whichever way you look at it)

That's a 50% increase. My HDDs will fill up 1.5x faster. It was already bad enough as I was coming from a D700 which was 15MB per file.

The D800's MP count was a bit of a turn off for me. It meant that I needed to get larger and faster cards and more HDDs to cope with the RAWs. I settled for the D610 as it is very capable for family and travel and spend the rest on lenses. I also use it for event photography.

    Whicn Lense Next?

Yes, there's good reason that it is part of the 'trinity'. I find that I need the grip on the D610. It balances out the weight of the heavy glass. but everything else is light once you're used to the weight of the 80-200/2.8.

    Whicn Lense Next?

It all happened pretty quick. As usual, the kids were just walking around as they played with the toys on the floor. Then he turned around and I got ready, and the next thing he does is looked straight into the lens and his fingers touched the hood, and the result is what you see in the pic...
