I returned the lens to US for a refund of US$150. After postage S$61, just broke even. Better than having an unknown issue on the lens.

Thanks for eveyones reply. Postage back to US for a refund will cost about $50, so repair in Singapore might be the better option. I am still waitng for vendors reply. Keep you posted.

Lens came as a bundle us$100 so got caught up in the moment. But does Canon have a history of AF gear spoiling when we turn focus ring in AF mode but lens not on camera? There was resistance but no sudden give way. Lens still working and can focus.
