Sorry to dig up this thread, but just thought I'd like to share that I've had my A80 CCD replaced FOC back in Oct 07. And now, the CHANGE THE BATTERY PACK problem has come back to haunt my camera. These are the EXACT same 2 problems that troubled my previous camera, a Canon A70 back in 2005...

1. Canon A40 (sold to friend because he scratched it) 2. Canon A70 (upgraded to the next model due to faulty CCD problem @ Canon HQ) 3. Canon A95 (sold as brand new unit) 4. Canon A80 (current model bought to replace the faulty A70) Guess you can call me a Canon fan-boy...

Do a search on the Canon A70 defective CCD thread which I started here a few months back. About 10 of us went down to Canon Harbourfront to trade-in the defective A70 for a brand new A95 at a cost of approx $140. Print that thread out, show it to them and let your debating skills shine! :D

Bought July 2003 @ MS Colour. If I'm not wrong, I can even remember the price was $506 haha. It was an upgrade from my A40.

Update: Met up with trenz and he got his Canon A95 liaoz. Zorrus and I will be waiting for our favourable replies soon...

CCD = image sensor. The flickering LCD is unrelated to this, although I do believe there might be some connection. From the very first shot I took with this camera, there has been a flickering LCD at times, but recently, it has occured with a lot more frequency. In fact, lines started appearing...

Not a prob at all, I shall relate my experience here...so all the A70 users here can benefit from this...hopefully, they'll allow us to do the trade-up to A95, although personally, I'd prefer to pay less and get a A520 instead...
