Unless you are a photographer designated by the tournament, go for the longest lens as chances are you wont be right next to them because of the crowd and on top of that, you are not allowed to shoot while they are in the midst of their swings, specially if you are right next to them anyway...

Have a look at this guys... Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens Image Quality 400mm f2.8 MK 1 with 1.4tc is sharper than 400mm f2.8 MK 2 with 1.4tc. both using 1.4tc MK 3 version. The CA is obvious.
